Sarah is teaching Creative Movement classes for 2-4 year olds at Heartbeat House Tuesdays 10:40-11:25 am. We explore different kinds of movement, including gentle warm ups, animal walks, spinning, jumping, moving across the floor and basic barre work through creative imaginative play and books. Props such as scarves and streamers are used to add more dynamics to movement. If you little one loves to dance, this is a great place to cultivate the love of physical expression while connecting movement to music.
Drop in classes are available.

Birthday Parties
Did you know World Citizen Baby offers birthday party entertainment? We have musical instrument play along parties so you can bring all of your favorite songs from class to the party. If you aren't a regular student, we can bring high energy classic kids songs for the whole family to sing along with. No matter what, we make each party special taking special song requests and adapting to fit the age of the guests and location of the party.
We can do parties at your home inside or outside, at party venues or in a park. In addition to musical birthday parties, we offer face painting and balloon animals either as the solo party entertainment or in addition to music if you want to do a deluxe party.
Sarah Kay Peters, owner or World Citizen Baby, has been performing at parties since 2003. She takes time to talk to families about their needs and wants of each family so that she can bring the best possible entertainment. If you are new to the party scene, she can help you figure out the timing of things your party can have a great flow and you can relax.
If you are interested in party entertainment, please check out the party page on our website or contact Sarah.
Remember, make a little music every day!
Axé!

Thank you for a wonderful 3 1/2 years!
Dear World Citizen Families of Atwater Village and Silver Lake,
Thank you for the past several years of making music with me and making World Citizen Baby a part of you lives. I have really enjoyed getting to know all of the amazing families that have taken class with me over the past 3 1/2 years in Atwater and Silver Lake, and some of you for much, much longer. It is time for me to move on to the next chapter in my life and so this summer will be my last session teaching WCB in Atwater. This fall, I will going to graduate school, working towards an MA in Applied Theatre Arts from USC.
I will still be available for birthday parties and special events while I am in school, and if you are not enrolled in the summer session and want to get a few more classes in with me, there is information on my website.
I am looking for an amazing person to buy the business and take over the classes, ideally by the fall session so you don't have to disrupt your child's musical journey. If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity or know someone who might be, please contact me.
This is not the end of World Citizen Baby. The vision of this was always larger than parent and child music classes, and that vision lives on. This blog will continue. Classes will continue in Atwater (I just have to find the magical person to step in as I step out!) and will start at the Brasil Brasil Cultural Center in Culver City. After I complete my MA, I envision a theatre and dance program for older children. Many opportunities to explore our world and ourselves through the lens of art and culture.
Saying goodbye to all of you is the hardest part of this. I thank you all for letting me be a part of your and your children's lives. I will miss jamming with you every week and all the wonderfully special ways each child has to make me smile. I look forward to theses last four weeks of making music with you! We will end com muito axé!
Um braço,
Sarah

More and more research showing the many benefits of early music training, especially within the first year. It's never too early to start exposing your child to and engaging your child in musical play.

Adventures in Thailand
In January 2011, I traveled to Thailand. It was one of the best trips of my life. I completely fell in love and can't wait to go back. I'm never happier than when I'm traveling.
Ethiopia Reads
There are so many ways to make a huge difference for communities around the world while enriching your own life. Ethiopia Reads is one of them. Ethiopia Reads is a program to get books to children in Ethiopia. Their mission statement:
"To create a reading culture in Ethiopia by connecting children with books. By planting libraries for children, creating culturally appropriate reading materials and training educators to nurture a love of books, Ethiopia Reads brings hope and educational skills to this generation of Ethiopians."
There are many ways to support the organization, including donating books, sponsoring a library or purchasing books they publish. It is a great way to teach your child about a different culture while helping children in Ethiopia. Everybody wins! I encourage you to check out their website, www.ethiopiareads.org
Axé.
